Photo Mosaic

One photo. Nine magnets. One picture on the fridge.

A photo mosaic magnet splits your photo across a grid of 2-inch magnets that snap back together on the fridge. You position the photo, we make every tile.

A 3×3 photo mosaic magnet set of a cat, assembled on a fridge

Every photo magnet we make is a two-inch square. A mosaic keeps the square and changes the scale: the same photo, cut into nine or twelve tiles, each one pressed by hand and labeled on the back so it goes exactly where it belongs.

The part that matters is the placing. In the design tool you see the actual magnets, edges and all, and drag your photo underneath until the eyes sit inside a square and the seams fall where they do no harm. The set we make is the set you saw.

Mosaic magnet questions

What is a photo mosaic magnet?

One photo split across a grid of 2-inch square magnets. Each magnet carries its slice of the picture, and when you place them together on the fridge — nearly touching, in order — the full photo reappears. We offer a 3×3 (nine magnets), a 3×4 tall and a 4×3 wide (twelve magnets each).

How do I choose where the seams fall?

You position the photo yourself. The design tool shows the actual magnets with their edges, and you drag and zoom the photo underneath until faces sit inside a square and nothing important lands on a seam. What you see is what we make.

Why does the preview say the edges are squeezed?

Each magnet's photo wraps a little over its rounded edge, so the strip between two faces bends around the sides instead of disappearing. The preview simulates that, but a real magnet in real light always looks slightly different from a screen. It is a faithful preview, not a photograph of the finished set.

How do I know which magnet goes where?

Every tile is labeled on the paper that wraps behind the magnet — A1 in the top-left, letters going down, numbers going across — and the box includes an assembly card with the finished picture and the labels. Most people have it on the fridge in under a minute.

How big is it assembled?

The 3×3 is about 6.1 by 6.1 inches. The 3×4 tall is about 6.1 by 8.2 inches and the 4×3 wide is about 8.2 by 6.1 inches. The magnets sit nearly touching, so the picture reads as one image from across the kitchen.

What photo works best?

A photo with one clear subject and some room around it. Faces should be at least a third of the frame so they stay inside a single square. Phone photos are plenty of resolution for any of the three sizes; we will tell you in the tool if a photo is too small.

Can I put text or stickers on a mosaic?

No — text across a mosaic breaks the picture at the seams. Mosaics are the photo only. If you want names or a date, order individual magnets alongside it.

How much does it cost and how fast does it ship?

The 3×3 is $29 and the twelve-magnet sizes are $36, plus $4.50 flat shipping anywhere in the United States. We make and ship within 2 to 3 business days.

Is a mosaic a good gift?

It is the one photo magnet that makes people stop in the kitchen. Grandparents, a couple's first home, a memorial photo, a dog that owns the house — anything you would frame works better as a mosaic, because it lives on the fridge where everyone actually looks.
